ASF-UK’s work in Hatay, Türkiye focuses on community-led post-earthquake recovery - advocating for people-centred reconstruction following the 2023 earthquakes in the region. As part of our Change by Design series, our series of workshops and forums follows the theme of “Living Heritage”; working to keep tangible and intangible elements of local culture alive. People, places, practices, knowledge and memories of local communities are central to our work in bringing together community needs, grassroots groups, civil society actors and government bodies to advocate for participatory reconstruction. This process connects livelihoods and social practices, planning and land rights, landscape and ecological restoration, memory, and belonging.
